Gannettoid.com, a site that covers news about Gannett, reported Jan. 12 the company is expected to end its wage freeze April 1.

The freeze, which applies to U.S. Community Publishing newspaper employees, was announced in March. At the time, division president Bob Dickey said the freeze would last from April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2010. Employees had wondered if the company would extend the freeze, but executives have told Gannettoid.com the budgets are set to allow for wage increases beginning in April, the site reported.
